Vivienne Dick / 192nd Annual Exhibition
The Annual Exhibition is a core responsibility of the artist Members of the Royal Hibernian Academy. This year, the RHA saw a total of 4,038 works of art submitted from which, following two rigorous rounds of selection, 378 works were accepted and will be exhibited throughout all gallery spaces alongside works by RHA Academy Members and Invited Artists.
With Ireland’s largest artistic prize fund of over €70,000 available to all exhibiting artists, the RHA Annual Exhibition attracts the highest calibre of artists working today. The majority of work is for sale and provides an opportunity for collectors and first time buyers alike to directly support artists by acquiring their work. Prices range from €65 to €36,000, and everything in between.
Last year’s Annual Exhibition saw a 13-year high with over €455,000 paid directly to artists in sales commissions and prizes. The RHA thanks the public for its ongoing support of the Annual Exhibition, which also supports the work of the Academy as a registered charity providing a platform for Irish artists for nearly 200 years.
The open submission is vital to the strength and vitality of the RHA Annual. Works selected through the open submission process make up around 60% of the exhibition with the rest of the artworks from RHA Members and Invited Artists.
This year over €70,000 of prizes will be awarded to exhibiting artists. This prize fund, one of the largest in Ireland, is awarded to artists recognised for works of achievement.
Admission is always free and a series of artist led tours and talks are scheduled for the duration of this exhibition. For more information, please see www.rhagallery.ie
