Fabrice Cazenave: Waves 2024/5
To mark the opening of Fabrice Cazenave’s exhibition ‘Blooming Body’ at the gallery, we have published an exclusive, small run edition of works on paper.
While working on drawings for the exhibition during daily visits to Charleston Farmhouse in Sussex, Cazenave prepared sheets of Fabriano paper with colour washes of oil stick and turpentine. Most of these sheets were used in subsequent drawings, but seven sheets remained. Choosing an appropriate image of a willow at Charleston, these sheets were screenprinted by Gary Parselle at the Private Press in Brighton, carefully acknowledging and working with the deckled edge of the paper, and hand mixing the ink to echo the Pitt pencils used by Cazenave in his drawings.
