Jamie Reid: Monster on Nice Roof, 2022
Monster on Nice Roof (2022) was produced on the occasion of the exhibition The Horror Show! A Twisted Tale Of Modern Britain at Somerset House (27th Oct 2022 - 19th Feb 2023), which included Jamie Reid’s Monster On Nice Roof painting from 1970. This image of suburban dread was originally produced as part of Reid’s unfinished Cat Book project. Monster On Nice Roof (2022) has heightened fluorescence in the colour combinations and is taken from a vintage colour Xerox in the Jamie Reid Archive. Interestingly, a version of this composition was offered by Reid as artwork for Anarchy In The UK but was rejected by Malcolm McLaren as being ‘too Romantic’! This print was produced at K2 in Lonodn and was the penultimate edition produced by Reid before his passing in August, 2023
